Terms of Service
Last updated: September 26, 2026
Luminous ("we," "us") provides a website for tracking politicians' public voting records, legislation, and campaign finance data, and for discussing them with other users. By creating an account or using Luminous, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Luminous is intended for use by residents of the United States; we may limit access from other locations.
2. Your Account
You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your password secure. You agree to provide accurate information and not to create multiple accounts to evade rate limits, moderation actions, or to manipulate votes, reactions, or comment counts.
3. User Content
You retain ownership of comments and other content you post ("User Content"), but grant Luminous a license to display it on the service. You're solely responsible for your User Content. You agree not to post content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, defamatory, spam, or that violates someone else's rights. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice.
4. Political Content & Data Accuracy
Luminous aggregates public data (e.g. from Congress.gov and the FEC) about elected officials. We make a good-faith effort to keep this accurate but don't guarantee it. Votes, reactions, and approval percentages shown on Luminous reflect the opinions of Luminous users, not the general public, and are not a poll or survey with any scientific methodology.
5. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: use bots, scripts, or automation to create accounts, vote, comment, or react; attempt to circumvent rate limits or moderation; scrape the service beyond what's needed for normal use; or interfere with the service's security features (including CAPTCHA and email verification).
6. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
Luminous is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Luminous is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Luminous after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
